Welfare Summer 2009 Days 7 & 8

Soo Im like a week or soo behind.. never realized how unmotivated summer makes me.. but I'll catch this bad boy up in no time..

Day 7

Fbook Status

Welfare Summer Day #7 - on my way to Jersey.. Region 1 ODP tournament.. 1st game is tonight vs Connecticut..

Soo not really an exciting day... up at 6:30. packed and out the door by 7:30... Its raining .. FFFFF.. nothing worse then a long drive rain.. abolutely brutal.. got to Clarksburg(WV) around 9 am to hop in the car with a fellow coach.. drove to Morgantown to pick up another coach and we are on our way.... The drive to New Jersey is not exactly a fun one...I-68 blows, 206 to bedford blows as well. and then of course the PA turnpike.. cost 12 dollars for us to drive on a shitty four lane highway.. good news is there are very few cops so that does usually help.

The drive is always an interesting one.. especially with this one individual.. (I am sure most poeople can relate to the this next part... ) One of the passengers is the kind of person that everything revolves around them... crazy self absorbed. Even more selfabsorbed then myself.. Which is very hard to find.. Just kinda of crazy to listen to the stuff over and over again.. How do you handle a person like this?? do you just

So we race to Jersey and do to the Monsoon that was over the east coast our game for the night was cancelled... Well thats useless.. soo I settled for chinese food, Yinglueng and the Soloist on my laptop top... long asss day tomorrow

Day 8 ...

up to early.. like 7:15 am.. thats the one thing that blows about soccer tournaments.. wether im coaching or recruiting I always have to get up way too early..

Game One - New Jersey ODP 1994's Girls - ohhh boy.. usually year in and year out one of the best ODP programs in Region 1...

Needless to say.. it was not a good result.. one thing that is must for players to understand when playing extremely superior talent.. You have to give 110% or else things can and will get out of hand. 9-0 was the final, and realistcally not very much to take away from this game.. We were unable to string anything together offensively and defensively we had noo anwer for their Women's National Team inspired 4-3-3... the third players centrally created all kinds of isues for us on defense.. A good finishing team might have put 20 on us.. Our GK however was a definite bright spot..as she played out of this word..

Good news.. I got to coach against and have lunch with a good friend.. She is a high school teacher in Jersey, who coaches at the high school level and is the assistant with ODP... She is such a wonderful chick.. One of the coolest females I know.. could definitely see myself marrying someone like that..

The rest of the day was spent watching some of the other teams play... the 92/93 girls team got humped pretty good by Mass and New Hampshire..

Spent the evening with the Director of coaching from WV and some other staff members as we watched the U.S. Men's National team against Honduras.. they again started slow giving up a goal in the ist 10 minutes.. This time they rallied back to get a result, a 2-1 victory..

Off to be around 1am.. gotta get up at 5:30.. eww for two games in the morning..
